I love driving. I’ve got a car that is fun to drive and when the traffic is kind to me (and I don’t have the kids in the car) I can let him loose!
Today I found an old cd in my glove box that had lots of classics from the late 90’s/ early 00’s. I was stuck in a queue getting out of a car park and by the time I hit the main road back to my home town I’d enjoyed many a tune!
As I accelerated in today’s damp conditions I could feel the power of the car as it sped along overtaking people who were mainly picking their noses I noticed. By comparison I was being transported back in time to the carefree days of my teens and university life. I laughed out loud at memories of dancing with a friend in a dodgy club in Tenerife at 17 to the lyrics “I’ve been blessed with the body of the goddesses, have you any idea how hard this is” and how I used to love dancing to n.e.r.d’s ‘she likes to move’ in an equally dodgy club in Coventry.
I was filled with joy as I remembered how hard I worked to perfect the famous Beyoncé moves from ‘crazy in love’ which came in quite handy more recently at a friends hen do when we learnt the routine properly! Obvs, I smashed it! 👯♀️😂
I was on my way home from a friends baby shower. I’ve known her for over 20 years and I’m so excited she is having baby number 2 this summer.
I was overcome with joy.
Joy for the past and the experiences I have already had.
Joy for the friendships that I have.
Joy for what’s to come in the future.
It’s been a miserable June here in the UK. The wettest in my lifetime. I’ve been pretty down recently. I’ve felt lonely and dissatisfied.
But today; despite the spray from the rain and the cars in front of me, I see clearly.
I see how blessed I am.
🎼 life is a highway, and I’m gonna ride it all night long 🎼
